Chatsworth

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a photography workshop with Brett Harkness (one of the best wedding photographers there are) and Jo de Banzie (one of the best childrens’ photographers there are) at the beautiful location of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire which very nicely is not too far from me in Sheffield. The two days were hosted by Elaine from Britain’s Best Photography who looked after us all very well. More on Jo in another post but Brett was great. He guided us through various settings he likes to use on his camera, giving us tips on poses and answering loads of questions from the 12 or so eager photographers gathered around him.

The models Carly, Jake and Lizzie were very patient with us all wanting to get the best shot and all looked stunning.

Brett was very open giving us a list of the kit that he uses and letting us in on many tips and also letting us use his super-duper powerful light that almost outshone the sun – we all went away wondering how we could save up to afford one ! You can catch some of Brett’s amazing shots on his website here. Brett got us shooting the models in all sorts of places, starting at St.Peters Church, Edensor on the outskirts of the Chatsworth estate. This was followed by shots in amongst the diners in the old stables which is now the restaurant followed by in the grounds and garden ending at the water cascade where he persuaded Carly and Jake to abandon their shoes and socks and have a splash around – I was expecting the Chatsworth police to come after us but we managed to avoid them !

Here are a few of the hundreds of shots I got during the day. I hope you enjoy them.
